Upper Quadrant certification

To become certified through the IAOM-US in Orthopedic Medicine and Manual Therapy for the Upper Quadrant, an individual must successfully complete the examinations covering the 4 Upper Quadrant courses. The Certification will become official within two months of the last examination date. You will then be entitled to use the initials "COMT" or "CMTA" following your name and credentials. The minimum series of courses associated with Upper Quadrant Certification (90 hours) are listed below:

Shoulder (3 days)

Elbow (3 days)

Wrist & Hand (3 days)

Cervicothoracic Junction & Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (3 days)

Application requirements

To obtain COMT or CMTA, individuals are required to submit proof of:

bulletCurrent membership of the IAOM-US.
bulletPT or OT licensure in the state of practice.
bulletPTA or OTA licensure in the state of practice.

Applications for any modular examination should be made to the IAOM-US office no later than 6 weeks prior to the requested date of testing.
